Due to the generosity of one of our British donors a Sensory Room will be constructed and equipped at the Igalo Institute, Herceg Novi, Montenegro in May 2017. The room is designed to aid those clients with Auspergers and Autism. Meritune/SNAP will also undertake to train a number of professionals in the ” state of the art” use of the room. The room.will be open to all clients who have need.
During March 2017 a day care center (for the under 27 years of age) will be opened in Herceg Novi. This is a joint private/public partnership between Meritune and the Herceg Novi Municipality. Meritune has undertaken the renovation
and rent of a beautiful space with views of the sea above HN. The municipality provides all staffing and utility needs. We are very pleased to offer this opportunity to clients and their parents who have had no services since last summer.
Between 25 to 30 friends of Special Needs Advocacy Partners attended a lovely event graciously hosted by Dr’s Ana and Mislav de Corbavia at Gastrovino on the Kings Road, Chelsea, London on March 6th. The delicious food, wine and conversation flowed. All the items at the silent auction sold and Dr Lynne Montgomery gave a short introduction to the work of SNAP and thanked the many sponsors. We were lucky to have Charlie Coyle with us. An inspiring young man; who although blind, lives and works independently. He has agreed to work with us on our overall vision of inclusion. We receieved art works from Dusko Sybl, Maggie Gilbert and the late Mladen Veza. Jewellry from Sarah and Katrina, personal friends of Lynne and a spa package from Uglicka at USPAAH, a luxury online home spa service. We also receieved cheques from those who couldn’t attend. Mrs Georgina Germain, Anthony and Philippa Monckton and William and Diana Wrisdale. Other friends expressed interest to donate thtough the site once it is up this month.
Meritune and the Igalo Institute hosted world renowned expert Dr Gordana Buljan Flander. In a first of its kind one day conference on the subject of physical and sexual abuse of one of the most vulnerable populations; the disabled. The conference was attended by over 80 persons; Including doctors, psychologists, special needs educators and parents. Meritune is committed to the continuing education of professionals, patents and the public with regards to persons with disabilities.
Meritum hosted Jovica Vukomirovic and Zelko Marinovic from the day care center Sopot in Serbia at the Nova Sansa NGO. The afternoon was designed to facilitate conversation between parents about shared difficulties and to discuss solutions. Meritum is committed to providing as much psychological support to care givers as possible .
